July 2020 Sweet Scripture Writing

June 19, 2020 by Jennifer Russell

Our July 2020 Sweet Scripture Writing theme is prayer and seeking God. Take a few minutes each day in July to look up and write down the day’s Scripture. Also write down any prayers, questions, or thoughts that come to mind as you read/write each verse. It is our prayer that by writing out these verses you will write God’s word on your heart and apply it to your life.

A Prayer for Our Nation

March 14, 2020 by Cherry Stone

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Father, we come to you today as your beloved people. Thank you that you are the God who hears and the God who sees and the God who answers the prayers of His people. We want to join with other believers all across this nation and world to humbly repent before you and to ask for your mercy.

We plead the blood of Jesus over ourselves, our families, our neighborhoods, our states and our nation! We declare that the blood of Jesus is supreme over all sickness! There is power in the blood and the name of Jesus to break every chain of fear, sickness and disease!

Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil because you are with us! Your rod and your staff will comfort us. You will anoint our heads with oil in the presence of our enemies, our cups will overflow with joy because you hear our prayers.

We cancel every assignment of fear and death that the enemy has released in our world and declare that perfect love casts our all fear! At the name of Jesus every knee has to bow and every tongue confess that you are the Lord.

We declare that no weapon formed against us will prosper. The enemy may come against us one way, but according to your word he has to flee seven ways.  We receive your overwhelming peace into our hearts and we release it over everyone within our sphere of influence and declare that the enemy will not reign in fear and terror but that the Peace of God will overwhelm us as we trust in you. We love you Jesus and declare that we trust you! Thank you for your presence.

In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

Best Encourager!

February 8, 2020 by Jennifer Russell

It was six years ago today that Sweet Monday founder, Kim Newlen, went to be with the Lord. Kim was an encouragement to everyone she touched. However, I’m sure if you ever told her that she would not have taken credit, but instead she would have pointed you to the “Best Encourager”. Below is a devotion written by Kim Newlen and published in The One Year Sweet and Simple Moments with God Devotional.

This is my command— be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

God doesn’t want us to be discouraged, but sometimes it happens. On those mornings when I wake up feeling discouraged, I ask Him to encourage me and to give me courage for that day. I know that my Father always knows best and He wants to lift my heavy heart.

Encourage simply means “to give courage to.” God gives courage to my heart when I open His Word and hear Him speak. For the longest time I thought He spoke only to the important people in church— the pastors, the evangelists, the Sunday school teachers, and the Bible study leaders. I did not know that our big God would talk to little me straight from His Word. When I began going to Him every morning with my Bible in hand, I started to hear His voice resonate in my heart and soul.

Spending time in God’s Word is no longer just a morning check- off on my to- do list. It is a way of life. I do not want to miss anything He has to say to me. If I take time to reflect on His words, an interesting thing happens— those words follow me around throughout the day. I find if I get dressed and get my shoes on before I meet with Him, I am out the door. But when I let the dishes soak a little longer and keep my bedroom slippers on, it forces me to slow down and park myself in His Word. He gives me courage by His Spirit, encouragement that will overflow to others. He is the best Encourager there is.

Let’s park ourselves in His presence as much as we can. Even in the midst of our long to- do lists, we need to listen to God and be encouraged!

25 Days of Prayer in February

January 29, 2020 by Paula Nelson

Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19

Do you have a heart for prayer?
Do you want to cultivate a more intentional prayer life?
Do you long to share the love of Christ with your friends and neighbors?
Do you have the gift of hospitality?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, we invite you to join us for 25 Days of Prayer. For 25 years Sweet Monday has operated on the foundation of prayer. We know that Jesus often withdrew to a quiet place to pray and real change in people’s lives only comes about through prayer and fasting.

Like Moses, at Sweet Monday, we don’t want to move forward without the Lord leading us. As we celebrate 25 years of ministry, we would be honored to have you come alongside us in prayer for God’s guidance and leadership as we move forward into what He has planned for the next 25 years.

Join us in prayer by signing up below to receive your FREE 25 Day Prayer Guide and follow along each day on Facebook and Instagram.

Statement of Faith

We believe the only way to God is by faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sin. Because of His death and resurrection, we can experience eternal life forever and abundant life now when we trust in Him. We believe that the Bible is God’s holy, error-free word, sweeter than honey to our mouth!

Eternal Dividends

“There’s a Sweet Monday group in Charleston that I used to attend. I loved that group of ladies – they became my family when we moved here and I had no family close. I loved the fellowship and how easy it was to get to know all of them!” Sweet Cathey, Summerville, SC

“I had been asking God to give me a way to broaden my hospitality sphere to include women I don’t usually interact with. I was even going to try something like this but with a different ministry before I even knew about Sweet Monday, however, this one just seemed like more of what I was looking for.” Sweet Hollie, Marietta, PA

“I’ve been wanting to minister to women but have been trepidatious about it. This is the perfect, most perfect solution.” Sweet Julia, New Holland, PA

“In 2004 a friend and I hosted a Sweet Monday group in NJ and it was a great way to bring women from all age groups together. God has been nudging me to start one now in Texas.” Sweet Sue, Allen, TX
