What Is a Hostess
A Sweet Monday Hostess is a woman of any age who has a God-given desire to reach out to her friends, neighbors, church members, co-workers, and strangers alike for Christ.
Once a month a Sweet Monday hostess opens the door of her home, church or community center and invites women to join her for a time of fun and faithfulness. She shares one simple dessert and a piece of candy that goes along with the theme and spurs women on with a dose of Gospel-centered encouragement from God’s word. Sweet Monday hostesses practice hospitality in a real and practical way. Since Sweet Monday is only once a month for an hour and a half, it is so simple our hostesses never dread it.
A Sweet Monday hostess fulfills the Great Commission given to us by Jesus himself by sharing a short and encouraging Gospel-centered message with the ladies who attend. She also fulfills the Great Commandment of loving her neighbors as herself as she intentionally opens the door to her home (and heart) on a regular basis and invites anyone and everyone to come in, sowing the seeds of love broadly. Invitation, invitation, invitation!
Sweet Monday has always been intended to be on a shoestring budget (tied to a Generous God) so that anyone can be a hostess. It is not cost prohibitive. Keeping Sweet Monday simple insures that you look forward to opening your home to others in the name of Christ. The biggest words of advice we have for our hostesses is to keep it so simple you never dread it. Women appreciate walking into a warm home that is lived in, cozy and full of love.
Sweet Monday Ministries support our hostesses by praying for them regularly and equipping them with the tools they need to host a Sweet Monday social in their home, church or community center. You can see a sample of a Sweet Monday theme here. We have six volumes of themes which all include a suggested dessert, candy and devotion.
Sweet Monday is easily adaptable to any group of women regardless of age or stage in life. Be creative!
