Back To Sweet Monday Prayer

August 27, 2020 by Jennifer Russell

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefor pray earnestly for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

September is Back To Sweet Monday for many hostesses. After a summer off and planning for a new season of monthly gatherings, hostesses are eager to open their homes again to neighbors, family and friends. The desire is to see women connect with one another and connect with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Like churches, schools and colleges around the world, this September will begin with a bit of caution and uncertainty. Hostesses around the world are thinking through what this season of Sweet Monday may look like for them since COVID-19 is still a threat.

We hope that you will join us in praying over our hostesses during this season of uncertainty. Below are just a few of the things we are praying for:

  • Lord, let our hostesses be encouraged by Your Word daily.
  • Lord, don’t let our hostesses become discouraged. Help them to remain faithful and not try to measure success.
  • Lord, help Sweet Monday to find more ways to reach women for Christ through events like Sweet Monday Online.
  • Lord, help our hostesses to be creative in finding ways to connect with their neighbors, family and friends.
  • Lord, let more women come forward and desire to reach women for Christ.
  • Lord, let Your Gospel be proclaimed to the ends of the earth.
  • Lord, we pray that more women around the world and their families will come to know you as their Lord and Savior as a result of Sweet Monday.

Best Encourager!

February 8, 2020 by Jennifer Russell

It was six years ago today that Sweet Monday founder, Kim Newlen, went to be with the Lord. Kim was an encouragement to everyone she touched. However, I’m sure if you ever told her that she would not have taken credit, but instead she would have pointed you to the “Best Encourager”. Below is a devotion written by Kim Newlen and published in The One Year Sweet and Simple Moments with God Devotional.

This is my command— be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

God doesn’t want us to be discouraged, but sometimes it happens. On those mornings when I wake up feeling discouraged, I ask Him to encourage me and to give me courage for that day. I know that my Father always knows best and He wants to lift my heavy heart.

Encourage simply means “to give courage to.” God gives courage to my heart when I open His Word and hear Him speak. For the longest time I thought He spoke only to the important people in church— the pastors, the evangelists, the Sunday school teachers, and the Bible study leaders. I did not know that our big God would talk to little me straight from His Word. When I began going to Him every morning with my Bible in hand, I started to hear His voice resonate in my heart and soul.

Spending time in God’s Word is no longer just a morning check- off on my to- do list. It is a way of life. I do not want to miss anything He has to say to me. If I take time to reflect on His words, an interesting thing happens— those words follow me around throughout the day. I find if I get dressed and get my shoes on before I meet with Him, I am out the door. But when I let the dishes soak a little longer and keep my bedroom slippers on, it forces me to slow down and park myself in His Word. He gives me courage by His Spirit, encouragement that will overflow to others. He is the best Encourager there is.

Let’s park ourselves in His presence as much as we can. Even in the midst of our long to- do lists, we need to listen to God and be encouraged!

Spotlight: Sweet Joyce, Chattanooga, TN

May 24, 2019 by Jennifer Russell

Hostess: Sweet Joyce

Location: Chattanooga Church in Chattanooga, TN

Date Started: October 2015

Favorite Theme: Tea Party

What inspired you to start a Sweet Monday? We have used this Sweet Monday as an outreach/inreach for our church. We have encouraged the ladies to use Sweet Monday as a way to bring their neighbors and friends into the church setting in a non-threatening way. We have also found it being a good way for visitors and new members of the church to get to know the other ladies. Probably 5 of the ladies who have come the past year or so have been visitors or new members.

What advice would you give a new hostess? Make it simple and ask others for help.

How has Sweet Monday influenced your life and others around you? I think our Sweet Monday has encouraged the ladies who come and have gotten many of them out of their comfort zones. We are still working on helping the ladies to see the benefits of using Sweet Monday as an outreach.

How have you made Sweet Monday your own? We have made our Sweet Monday our own by coming up with new themes and ideas and involving the ladies with the execution of them.

Thank you Sweet Joyce for reaching women for Christ one sweet invitation at a time in Chattanooga, TN. To learn more about becoming a Sweet Monday Hostess in your community, visit Become A Hostess.

Eternal Dividends

“There’s a Sweet Monday group in Charleston that I used to attend. I loved that group of ladies – they became my family when we moved here and I had no family close. I loved the fellowship and how easy it was to get to know all of them!” Sweet Cathey, Summerville, SC

“I had been asking God to give me a way to broaden my hospitality sphere to include women I don’t usually interact with. I was even going to try something like this but with a different ministry before I even knew about Sweet Monday, however, this one just seemed like more of what I was looking for.” Sweet Hollie, Marietta, PA

“I’ve been wanting to minister to women but have been trepidatious about it. This is the perfect, most perfect solution.” Sweet Julia, New Holland, PA

“In 2004 a friend and I hosted a Sweet Monday group in NJ and it was a great way to bring women from all age groups together. God has been nudging me to start one now in Texas.” Sweet Sue, Allen, TX
